Veterans for All Voters
State Leaders
State Leaders are on-the-ground advocates for election innovations in their home states. The situation on the ground is different in each state. For example, some innovations happen in the state legislatures while other changes can happen at the ballot box.
Illinois Testimonials
"Like many veterans, I felt a call to action when I joined the military 15 years ago. However, this past decade has shown me that the current state of partisan politics is driving our country down a treacherous path of division and toxic tribalism. The reason I joined Veterans for Political Innovation is the current electoral system rewards this destructive rhetoric and the commonsense election reform VPI is pushing for will make politicians focus on their constituents’ desires instead of baseless culture wars. We’ll know we accomplished our mission when politicians actually campaign on policies instead of fear and hate."

"Since 2016 I have been very frustrated with the increasing stratification of the political parties to the extremes of both sides. Our representative republic has thrived on moderation and centrist thinking for more than 200 years. Todd Connor asked me to consider joining VPI; I am honored to be affiliated with anything Todd does."

"After leaving the Army in 2019, I wanted to continue serving my fellow countrymen. In 2020, I ran for the state legislature in IL and while I did not win my race, I do still see it as an incredible learning experience. With that said, I am still looking to serve and better both my community and country in any way I can."
George Kemper
U.S. Army Veteran
"The current primary system produces candidates who appeal to the worst parts of the base. Additionally, the parties only allow political insiders and those with funds to secure nominations. The combination of these two factors leads to divisive candidates that do not reflect most of their constituents. I am excited to support an effort to reform a broken system."
