State Leaders

State Leaders are on-the-ground advocates for election innovations in their home states. The situation on the ground is different in each state. For example, some innovations happen in the state legislatures while other changes can happen at the ballot box.

Massachusetts Testimonials

"I've worked in the political reform space for a number of years, most recently as the Head of Ops & People at Unite America, because I'm passionate about fixing our broken election system. This isn't just political theory for me; I know our system is broken. I witnessed it firsthand as a former independent candidate for Congress in the 2014 cycle. If I had a nickel for every time a voter told me that "they couldn't vote for me because they didn't want to waste their vote", I'd, well, have a lot of nickels!

As a veteran myself, and someone who comes from a family of service members, I love the work VPI is doing, and I would very much like to get involved. I was there (at UA) when we decided that Final Five would be our ultimate policy proposal. And I was there when we somehow, someway got it across the finish line in Alaska. I've been a part of this reform movement for a long time, and I've learned a lot of (hard) lessons along the way. I'd like nothing more than to share those lessons learned with your organization, so as to potentially, hopefully save you guys precious time, energy, stress, and money as you gear up to really expand and execute across the country.

I hope it goes without saying, but I'm a really big fan of what you guys have built. Much respect and all my very best going forward."

"Rephrased: The current state of our country, with its extreme divide and deep-seated distrust in the government, has captivated my attention. It is disheartening to witness the prevalence of lies, blatant abuse by politicians, and a lack of patriotism and genuine love for our nation. Over the past decade, it seems we have been forced to choose between the lesser of two evils, with some individuals prioritizing party lines over the actual qualifications and character of the candidates. This situation is cause for concern, and it has sparked my interest in what can we do. One thing we have learned through history, grassroots efforts work, as long as they are based on integrity, and service before self."
